Compliant data handling for platform users — Renvatol

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal information in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA) and other applicable South African law.

Information we collect and how we use it

We collect personal information that you provide directly to us, including your email address when you subscribe to our newsletter or contact us through the platform. We also collect information generated by your use of the platform, such as the research questions you submit and the features you interact with. This information is used to operate and improve the platform, to respond to your enquiries, and to send you the newsletter updates you have requested.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not use your information to build profiles for advertising purposes. We share your information only where required to operate the platform — for example, with technology service providers who process data on our behalf under appropriate data processing agreements — or where required by law. Any third party with whom we share your data is required to handle it in accordance with applicable privacy law.

Your rights under POPIA

As a data subject under POPIA, you have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, to request correction of inaccurate information, and to request deletion of your information where we no longer have a lawful basis for processing it. You also have the right to object to the processing of your information and to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at contact@renvatol.com.

We will respond to all privacy requests within a reasonable time and in accordance with the timeframes prescribed by POPIA. Where we are unable to fulfil a request — for example, because we have a legal obligation to retain certain information — we will explain the reason. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa if you believe your rights under POPIA have been infringed.

Data retention and security

We retain your personal information for as long as is necessary to fulfil the purposes for which it was collected, or as required by applicable law. Newsletter subscriber data is retained until you unsubscribe. Research session data is retained for the period necessary to provide the service and is deleted in accordance with our data retention schedule. You may request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us at contact@renvatol.com.

We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorised access, loss, or disclosure. These measures are reviewed and updated regularly to reflect current best practice. No method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we take our obligations under POPIA seriously and work continuously to maintain appropriate safeguards.
